There was a whole lot of stress, a few tears, a few venues, lots of different proposals but in the end there was love, a whole load of love and that always wins, pandemic or not.

Emma and Craig were one of the first couples to book their wedding with me back in January 2019! They came to me off the back of a recommendation which is always nice and I loved our initial wedding flower consultation together as Emma has a real love and passion for flowers. Craig was there to keep an eye on her spending as I think if she could she would have filled the whole wedding with flowers... which I would have loved! We got a beautiful plan in place for her church and rustic pub reception and they booked me straight away. Emma loved autumnal flowers just like me and wanted her colour scheme to be autumnal pinks. The flower collection would include; roses, protea, lisianthus, anemone, ranunculus, dahlias along with some dried stems to create that bohemian feel.

It made me feel so happy that so early on in my journey as a wedding florist they believed in me. Me and Emma kept in touch for the following year and discovered we had lots in common! It was nice seeing her from time to time delivering Valentines flowers etc.

The pandemic hit and very sadly the wedding reception venue Emma and Craig had booked had to close. Emma really wanted to get married in October 2020 on the date they had set so went in search of a new wedding reception venue which wasn't easy with everything going on.

The new venue was booked and we got together again, via zoom of course to go back to the drawing board for the flower decor as the venue was a completely different layout. We also had to consider the fact that it was looking quite likely that larger weddings may not be going ahead in October as the pandemic continued. We went ahead and planned as if a big wedding would go ahead and then put a back up plan in place to scale it back if needed. I really hoped Emma would get her dream day filled with all the beautiful floral arrangements that we planned together for her wedding.

As the date got closer restrictions on the wedding industry did not ease and in fact got stricter reducing guests from 30 to just 6. Something me nor Emma thought would happen when pubs were open! There was absolutely no question that Emma and Craig wanted to get married in October. They were not going to let anything get in the way of their love and their future as husband and wife. At this stage pubs were open and they could fill up with tables of 6 so Emma and Craig swapped their wedding venue to the gorgeous White Horse Pub Barn and managed to arrange a wedding reception with 30 of their nearest and dearest spread out on different tables as if they had all just gone to the pub! Genius. We got our heads together again at the last minute and came up with a beautifully intimate wedding flower installation that included all of the flowers and colours Emma loved. I wanted to make sure it was simple enough for the type of wedding they were now having but also special enough for Emma. She loved flowers, she dreamt of her big day and she had been through so much stress with it all. I wanted to create a beautiful setting for her so she would forget it all.

Everything was in place and the day came with a big storm forecast! It rained all day but it was the most beautiful day and one of my favourite weddings to date. It was just about love. It was so cosy, so pretty, so intimate and so meaningful. When I delivered the flowers to Emma she had the biggest smile on her face and she was so excited to marry the love of her life!

The bridal party looked gorgeous in their colour palette, the church was absolutely stunning with some added pew ends and the venue was transformed into the most perfect little bohemian haven when all the flowers went in and the candles were lit.

The pandemic is extremely tragic all round and has thrown a massive curveball at the wedding industry still with no end in sight. I long for those crazy weekends prepping for your special days and having the workshop bursting with blooms. Hopefully it will not be too much longer. Me and my 2021 couples are working closely together and I am here to support them the best I can!

We now have a new team member which is so exciting meaning we can take on more weddings so have 2021 and 2022 dates open. Please click here to find out more or here to book a virtual wedding flower consultation.

Intimate weddings may just be the latest trend.

Emma and Craigs review

I love that Emma created a little dried display of her bouquet to keep forever at home! Congratulations Emma and Craig. I wish you all the luck and love for the future. Thank you for letting love win x

'The most perfect flowers for the most perfect day! I can't praise Issy enough! She held my hand and supported me every step of the way. We had a few bumps along the way with lockdown and postponements but she was so flexible and rearranged everything to make our dream day possible. Issy was incredible, she really put me at ease and helped to make my vision come true, using her amazing creativity to suggest ideas and pull off some of the most amazing wedding flowers I have ever seen. The floral decor was so stunning everyone complimented it, and using dried flowers we were able to gift our friends and family who still have a part of our special day now. Thank you so so much, we couldn't have done it without you.'
