I feel like I have known Rosie and Jon for forever! Probably because they booked their wedding flowers with me a long long time ago way before the word pandemic was big in everybody’s vocabulary. We have been through excitement, cancellations, rebooking’s, upset, reassurance, worry, uncertainty, more worry and finally happy ever after together and I couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple to go through all of that with. Love won for these two in the end as they tied the knot at Kingscote Barn with a stunning intimate wedding of thirty of their nearest and dearest adhering to restrictions at that time.

Of course, when wedding planning over a long period of time what you want can change in terms of colours and flower styles as you become exposed to more inspiration. Rosie was pretty happy with her original choices when we finally got around to the final consultation, we just took out some of the mix of colour and went for a more tonal palette of ivories, pinks, peaches, oranges and lots of greenery which was perfect for an early summer wedding in May. It was so nice to hear that Rosie and Jon didn’t want to scale down their flower choices much even though their guest list was more than halved. We adjusted the arrangements to suit the scaled down table arrangements etc. but it meant that the day just looked so blooming beautiful and the flowers were a big part of the wedding day which Rosie had always dreamed of.

We love working at Kingscote Barn as it is always nice as a florist to return to a venue such as this where you feel comfortable and know the surroundings. Rosie and Jon went for two larger scale flower installs in the style of the wedding which was natural and seasonal with a touch of bohemia. We created a stunning full garland to decorate the balcony bursting with blooms and foliage along with flower poles to match which we created outside as it was a beautiful day and this is where the ceremony took place. These could have been moved around for the evening, but I think with no new evening guests and most of their day taking place outside they stayed where they were creating a fabulous photo opportunity. Pew ends also matched the poles to create the most stunning aisle against that breath-taking view at Kingscote. With the limited number of guests, the couple went for one long dining table in the centre of the barn which stole the show beneath the fairy lights and balcony garland. We designed a full of life foliage and flower garland running through the centre of the table along with candles and it created the most perfect dinner setting.

For the bridal party of Rosie and her four bridesmaids we created bouquets in a wonderfully natural and textured shape all slightly oversized. As always Rosie’s bouquet stole the show and the maid’s flowers simply complimented beautifully with a slightly simpler and smaller version. The colour palette couldn’t have gone better with the sage green dresses. This then seamlessly matched the grooms party who wore a lovely sage suit and had button holes to match.

It was such a pleasure to work with Rosie and Jon through such a difficult time for everybody and I truly do thank them for their kindness and warmth. I wish them all the luck in the future and hope to see them soon!

Rosie and Jon said “I honestly feel that Issy’s talent for floristry is unmatched. From our first meet I was reassured that she knew the look I was after. Her skill meant that our wedding had beautiful real flowers that complimented our style, the venue, and even the bridesmaid’s dresses. I adored my oversized bouquet - and the flower pillars for the ceremony stole the show (quite literally - some of our guests moved them afterwards for their own photo shoot!) We received so many compliments on the flower decor - we’re so glad we chose Issy for our special day.”
